Does the SEO work that you do on your site work for all search engines at the same time?

Hey guys, I have a quick question about getting your content to rank well in the major search engines. I have been writing posts for my website for a while now but none of them are ranking well on any search engine. My question is if I am going to work hard to try and get on the first page of Google does it mean that I also have to do the same amount of work in order to rank well on, say, Bing or does the SEO work that you do on your site work for all search engines at the same time?

Yes. You sure need to do the same amount of work on the other search engines. You need to update your robot.txt file to include all the search engine's details. Then some SE requires that you add a script to your site for easier indexing. You Wil have to do all this processes both on your site and on the others.
